On 21 October 2025, a student impact consulting team at The University of Auckland presented its report on Auckland Library Heritage Trust to two of our trustees. The team's semester-long consulting project developed recommendations for ALHT on lifting its profile through increased supporter engagement. A key part of the study is an assessment of comparable voluntary organisations in the heritage sector. The team met with ALHT trustees, Auckland Libraries and external advisors.

The consultants find that Auckland Library Heritage Trust has a great story to tell. There's potential to connect more often and more powerfully with heritage-minded people who would welcome the opportunity to assist the Trust in support of the stand-out heritage collections at Auckland Libraries.

The trustees who engaged with the team were positive about the experience. Greg Morgan comments:

'We enjoyed the commitment, energy and fresh thinking the consultants brought to the project. The students worked collaboratively with us, yet also with independence and a determination to add value by advancing their assessment and ideas for action in a considered and evidenced way. We are very grateful to the team and wider ICG student club.'

Auckland Library Heritage Trust has received both a comprehensive report and presentation slides from the ICG. Trustees will work through these in upcoming meetings.
