About ALHT
The Auckland Library Heritage Trust was established in 1991. The Trust applies for funding and receives bequests to pay for its activity. Everything ALHT does is to strengthen and promote awareness of the heritage collections at Auckland Libraries.
The Trust is independent of Auckland Council. We value being able to support heritage activity at Auckland Libraries.
If you have an idea that could help us support heritage collections, please contact us.
Impact
What does ALHT help pay for?
Auckland Libraries benefits directly from the Trust's work. AHLT has funded:
the purchase of items when the library does not have budget available, e.g. a significant burgess roll from the 1880s
arrangement, description, indexing and metadata to make collections accessible
preservation projects
research scholarships, talks and promotional activities to grow the public's awareness of the amazing heritage collections at Auckland Libraries.
And we've received bequests and negotiated the donation of items to enhance heritage collections.
ALHT is grateful for the support it receives
In recent years AHLT has received legacies and donations from personal benefactors, the Maureen Raison Charitable Trust, the Ohinerangi Charitable Trust and the Chisolm Whitney Family Charitable Trust.
ALHT thanks the heritage specialists at Auckland Libraries and all the organisations we have partnered with.
ALHT works with Auckland Libraries
The Trust is proud to work with Auckland Libraries to support its heritage collections.
Collecting plans created by the library spell out priorities for particular heritage collections. Details include collection coverage and strengths, the kinds of material the library is looking for, items no longer collected and which collections are not being added to.
